This project came to fruition when I was approached by a music tech student, one I had made a connection with during my time on the Porthleven Arts Prize residency. He had just developed his first EP, knowing of my passion for music related design and having seen my design style he reached out to collaborate.
This is my first design commission and in an area of design I'm keen to step into. It was also made clear there were no requirements for the design, I had sole creative freedom on this project.
To begin the process I listened to the album thoroughly, in order to gage its tone, atmosphere and to fully embody the emotional connection to the music.
Design Process
A core element I used for this design was taken from a photograph I took of a bonfire I was having, I was also listening to the Sadgrove I'm album at the time. In some way, there occured a natural connection between the music and the rhythmic flow of the flames dancing in front of me.
I manipulated the elements in Photoshop and Illustrator.
