The Porthleven Prize was an opportunity open to 10 students of Falmouth University and 10 from Bath Spa University. It involved a week long stay at Porthleven working collaboratively with students across many disciplines including; Photography, Fine Art and Music tech. I was luckily one of the accepted applicants.
Each day was organised by tutors from each university, letting us taking part in experimental workshops and producing a video by the end of the week, in relation to the theme of ‘Provenance’, a place or source of origin.
We covered practises such as poetry writing, mark making, performance art and other mediums for creative output.
As part of the Porthleven Prize arts residency, my group consisting of Ruben, Libby, Olivia and myself performed a mark making video, using a projector to cast imagery onto the rocky coastline, responding to imagery using marks. The imagery was carefully selected to pose a message about the increasing changes happening to the small town of Porthleven.
